Mackay North State High School Students Demonstrate Leadership Skills to Reach World Stage

Four students from Mackay North State High School have used several key leadership skills to earn a spot in the international stage of the F1 for Schools STEM Challenge. The four boys travelled to Abu Dhabi to compete alongside one of their teachers.

Industrial Technology and Design teacher Rowan Cahill accompanied the team and said, “I don’t know of any other competition in the country that requires such a mixture of skills from design and mathematics, to entrepreneurial, public speaking and business.”

The school had been competing in the competition for more than 10 years but this was the first time they had made the international stages. The team had aimed to finish in the Top 20, so were very pleased to claim 9th position.
