Bingara Central School Student Representative Council leaders have started a “Giving Tree” that they explain is to, “help the Bingara community who are currently experiencing one of the worst droughts on record.”
The program involves SRC members fundraising to provide financial assistance to school families so that more of their peers may attend school camps and excursions. Additionally, they are creating and gathering donations towards “Bingara Vouchers” which can be used in the local shops for groceries and other needs.
The school explained that the student-led project has currently, “raised enough funds to significantly reduce the cost of our stage camps and have been able to get just over 90% of our kids off to camps.”
