West Greenwood Transforms Fridges into Worm Farms

West Greenwood Primary School used old fridges to create worm-farms for composting their fruit and veggie scraps. The school ran a competition for students to design and paint the worm farms, which are an addition to their vegetable garden (pictured).

Each class have designated composting bins in their eating area and students who are part of the ‘Tidy Club’ are responsible for collecting and emptying scraps into the worm farms.

A recent waste audit showed a 73.5% decrease in fruit and veggie scraps from 2019 to 2021.
