Secondary student Grace Sinclair has created a new volunteering service with Aged Care Provider Baptist Care. She calls 97-year-old resident Nancy twice a week to read her chapters from her novel.
Grace explained on Perth radio that she came up with the idea because it used her passion for reading to help others.
“Grace is such a good reader, she puts all the expressions in.” Said Nancy. “It almost transports me into the real scenes so I can actually see the story unfolding in my imagination.”
The opportunity has now been extended to the wider community to volunteer in similar ways to provide virtual assistance.
