St Patrick’s College Creates Fisherman Sculpture With Meaning

Students from St Patrick’s College in Townsville have created a sculpture to represent overfishing as part of the “Strand Ephemera” sculpture exhibition.

The sculpture named, “Plenty More”, includes a life-sized, hand-woven fisherman holding a net with over 100 porcelain fishes, turtles and stingrays. The work is described as representing, ”the need for indigenous communities to gain control over their rightful traditions.”

Strand Ephemera 2019 is on now and concludes on Sunday 4 August 2019. Read more about the event HERE.
