Huonville High School Students Earn National Energy Globe Award

Huonville High School student leaders have been awarded the National Energy Globe Award which is recognised as “the most important award for sustainability worldwide.” It was received it in recognition of their work to start the Tasmanian Youth Climate Leaders’ Program.

The program is in its third year after student leaders from Huonville ran the first event for students at their school in response to several ideas to improve sustainability on campus. The event now involves 30 secondary schools across the state and more than 300 students.

Energy Globe, who facilitate the award, said, “The outcomes of the conference inspire youth to pursue leadership opportunities, studies, careers, and volunteering in the fields of climate science, justice, renewable energy and sustainability.”
