Williamsville East Students Surprise Themselves for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society

Three Williamsville East students have raised about $31,000 for the Leukaemia/Lymphoma Society. Avantika Sridhar, Brooke Horn and Ava Horn raised the funds by selling chocolate bars, burritos, wristbands and taking donations through spaghetti dinners and casual dress days.

The three students were partly inspired to start their campaign, which they called “In It to End It”, by their classmate Jacob Ward who was last year diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The girls were surprised by their own success but referred to some of the people they met along the way as inspiration for their sustained effort. “Sometimes you would be a little discouraged,” said Brooke, “a woman came by and said her son had just passed away days ago from Lymphoma.”
