Parkland High School Freeze ’n’ Slide for a Cause

Parkland High School students have built an icy cold ‘slip-n-slide’ and challenged both teachers and student leaders to take it on. All of the fun was in an effort to raise funds for motor neurone disease (MND) research.

Grade 9 student Faith Hursey explained, “We have a friend, Jorja, and her pop died from MND. So knowing someone that’s close to me have such a struggle with it makes you want to do something.” She also explained that it was not just about fundraising but raising awareness for the disease and its impact.

The initiative had raised $1200 before sliding began, $200 above their final target, and more was raised at the event as well as at a student-led sausage sizzle.
