Students Change Community Bag Habits

The “Respect the Sea and be Plastic Free” initiative has involved 9 schools this year from the Sutherland Shire region. The event sees schools influence local community through the introduction of student-designed reusable bags.

The event, first run in 2017 by Cronulla South Public School, has grown after students from multiple schools have been inspired to try and lower plastic usage in their local community. The initiative has been assisted by the sponsorship of over 50 local businesses.

Today nearly 3000 of the reusable bags are in circulation all assisting the student goal to see more environmentally sustainable practices in their local community.
