The Smoothie Bar Project

Year 8 students at Tintern Grammar school in Melbourne have split into groups to develop a smoothie flavour and brand. The exciting entrepreneurial project is known as ‘The Smoothie Bar’  and there was plenty of preparation involved before students reached their final product.

Students developed necessary skills as well as creativity in the lead up to presenting their product through workshops that taught them about market research, product and brand development, marketing and financing.

The final products were displayed at a mock trade show, where students set up a booth and pitched their product in a presentation. Parents were then able to vote for a winning ‘smoothie’.

The real world based challenge proved an excellent opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, “such as critical and creative thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, communications, presentation and digital and financial literacy.”
