Taking Action in the War Against Waste

When considering their environmental impact, students at St Mary’s Catholic School in Manly are leading the way in thinking globally and acting locally. The school is participating in the challenge of ‘plastic-free July.’

In addition to the in month long challenge, they are using app’s and iPads to help bring about significant change.

‘Litterati’, an app used by the students, helps to track litter removal and the data shows that students at St Mary’s have collected more than 2000 pieces of rubbish in 4 weeks. Staff member, Ms Claire Shefford said that students “can see their impact and know they can make a difference”.
