Student Leads 24-Hour Cycle Challenge Fundraiser

21-year-old University of Tasmania student Holly Geard has led a 24-hour cycle challenge which fundraised $2512.15 towards the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The challenge, which involved ten different teams, was organised as a university assignment.

As a Health and Physical Education student Holly was required to lead the creation, delivery and review on a health program. The project held extra significance for Holly because the Westpac Rescue Helicopter had carried her mum earlier in the year after a hiking accident.

“My family and I just want to give back to the helicopter however we can,” she said. “The aim was to raise $1000.” The event took place with all teams at Unigym, with one man cycling for the entire 24 hours solo.
