Murrumbidgee Regional High School Students Lead the Way in Solar Technology

Murrumbidgee Regional High School students have taken the lead on embracing renewable energy by learning about and designing solar-powered cars. They partnered with STEM Industry School Partnerships (SISP) and Solar Mad to develop and test the cars.

Twelve students competed in teams to see who could design the car able to complete a 20m track in the least amount of time. The fastest car was able to complete the track in 4.6 seconds at a rate of 15.8km/h.

The students completed the task with their own community in mind with the goal of “incorporating real world problem solving into the classroom with the focus of Ag-Tech,” according to local organisation “Grow Our Own – Western Riverina”.
