Kimba Students Visit the Local Council

A dozen leaders from Kimba Area school in South Australia visited their local council this week as part of the preparation as school leaders. The students, ranging from grade three to twelve, sat in the gallery at this month’s council meeting.

This simple strategy allowed the students to see how the council conducts their meetings, and also allowed the students gain ideas for serving the local community.

Following this proactive step from the student leaders, Mayor Dean Johnson will be speaking to the group about taking on leadership roles within the community, and the students will be taught about deputations should they wish to approach the council for assistance with any projects.
