Students Support Daffodil Day

Students and staff across Sacred Heart College Sorrento, have gathered together to fundraise for Daffodil Day. A cause close to home for so many members of Sacred Heart’s Community.

“Cancer touches all people and in a College with 1400 students, 190 staff and the wider College community, it’s constantly brought to our attention that one in eight members of our community will be affected in some way.“ Rossana (teacher) said.

With the harsh reality of the potential result of cancer hitting home- “We have been touched by the loss of students, staff members and extended family,” they have decided to do whatever they can to contribute to help find an answer.

The college organised a sweet and savoury stall during the recess break with funds raised going towards WA families affected by cancer. As well as this, they sold merchandise and fresh daffodil bunches. Yellow themed events were run throughout the week and both staff and students embodied the spirit by dressing in yellow.

Sacred Hearts Social Justice Captains “feel compelled to raise awareness and funds in a way that can help improve the lives of those afflicted by Cancer, including those in our own College community”.

WA Cancer Council say “We’d like to thank all the students and staff at Sacred Heart College for their commitment to Daffodil Day over the past 20 years!”

The college urges more schools to fundraise for the worthy cause.
